The Green Table -- Chelsea Market -- New York

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
The Green Table at Chelsea Market was great for lunch, a little cramped, we were in a narrow corner by the bar, but ok. Had the grilled cheese and a Old Fashioned Apple, basically an Old Fashioned made with Makers Mark and Cider... really good.

Tribeca Grill -- New York

Tribeca Grill is one of my favorite restaurants in New York, I always have a good meal there and the service is great. This trip to New York the best part of the meal was the Charcuterie plate, the lamb loin was also very good, the side dish with the lamb was a little salty. The cookie plate made me forget that....

The Little Owl -- New York

The Little Owl at 90 Bedford St, New York is a small neighborhood restaurant with a well considered and well executed American menu. As the name implies it is small, it is loud, but the service was good, the food was excellent, and the wines by the glass were interesting and pleasing. I am also a sucker for any restaurant with a homemade cookie plate. I had the pork chop which was perfectly cooked, and served with white beans and dandelion greens... splendid. The lobster soup starter was also excellent with lots of lobster flavor and not filled in with too much cream.

Honigmond -- Berlin

Honigmond is a coffee house and restaurant in Berlin, their buffet lunch is different every day and very good. The array of deserts is also amazing. For a very reasonable price too.

Tryst Restaurant -- Beverly

Tryst Restaurant in Beverly has a great bar and excellent menu. The brunch on Sunday is also very good, cash only, but very good....

Witty's -- Currywurst -- Berlin

Currywurst
Witty's is a chain of Currywurst stands in Berlin, they serve organic sausage, beer etc... Currywurst is a bratwurst that has been deep fried then sprinkled with curry powder and smothered in ketchup. There is nothing better than eating Currywurst on the street with a beer and some fries.

Cantina Italiana, it may not be the slickest restaurant, but the food is great, the service is great and they have a great selection of Italian wines. The Bombolotti alla Buongustaia is one of my favorites, the Osso Bucco is superb as well.

Cha Chá is a Thai street kitchen inspired restaurant in Berlin, they produce great quality Thai food that is also still spicy and flavorful. ( Other Thai food I've had in Berlin has been a bit bland. )

Café Einstein -- Berlin

Café Einstein at Unter den Linden 42 D 10117 Berlin is a great cafe with excellent coffee and baked goods as well as cocktails and classic German dishes and a nice wine selection.

Weinbar Rutz -- Berlin

Weinbar Rutz is a great wine bar with an excellent selection of European wines as well as a deep selection of German wines in particular. The food is also amazing, traditional German food prepared with the finesse and care of any high style restaurant. One particular highlight was the Pork Knuckle a Berlin staple... it was sublime. I also recommend German Pinot Noir, I haven't found any that I don't like so far. It appears to be under wraps for renovation right now, I pray that it'll open again in March like they say. You can find it at Chausseestraße 8 10115 Berlin, Germany 030 2462-8760.

Berliner Republik -- Berlin

Berliner Republik is a pub/restaurant on the river in Berlin near Friedrichstraße train station. The fresh blood and liver sausages with cabbage and boiled potatoes is excellent. They also have an extensive beer selection which is rare in Berlin where most places just carry one or two brands.

Schwarzwaldstuben -- Berlin

Schwartzwaldstuben is a great place in Mitte in Berlin at Tucholskystrasse 48. They serve southern German food including a very nice pizza like dish called Flammkuchen and a really nice stuffed pasta dish Maultasche . The beer Rothaus is also excellent, a sort of cloudy and full bodied wheat beer and a little sweet.

Aigner -- Gendarmenmarkt Berlin

"You can find AIGNER Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin Mitte, at the corner of Französiche Strasse and Charlotten Strasse, directly behind the French Cathedral."

And you really should find it if you get to Berlin, the food is very good and the service is excellent. Anything that has dumpling in the description is well worth having. Also the the boiled beef special is great, I've tried the beef tongue and that was amazing.

They also have a great cheese dessert, Tete de Moine which is a shaved cheese that has a wonderful flavor as well as requiring a machine to shave it into ribbons for consumption.

The shaved ham appetizer is also very good and also requires a machine that appears table side to slice your portion on demand.
